WireSizer is a user-friendly tool designed to calculate the appropriate wire gauge for achieving the desired voltage drop in most common DC applications up to 60 volts. It is highly beneficial for individuals working on boats, RVs, trucks, cars, radios, or other low voltage DC systems, whether they are professionals or do-it-yourselfers.

To determine the appropriate wire size for your specific needs, simply select your DC voltage, current, and circuit length with intuitive finger gestures. No need for keyboard inputs! WireSizer will automatically calculate the minimum wire size for different percentages of voltage drop under normal or engine compartment operating conditions. These recommendations include commonly available sizes in AWG, SAE, and ISO/Metric.

Using the correct wire size is crucial as undersized wires can result in equipment malfunctions or failures, while oversized wires can increase costs and complicate installation. Unlike online wire gauge calculators, WireSizer can be accessed offline whenever and wherever it is needed.

WireSizer enables users to select voltages up to 60 VDC, currents up to 500 amps, and circuit lengths in feet or meters up to 600 feet or 200 meters.

The calculated results cover voltage drops between 1 and 20 percent, allowing users to easily find the most suitable option for their purposes. The wire size options range from 4/0 to 18 gauge AWG and SAE, as well as 0.75 to 92 mm. WireSizer also offers the option to customize results by selecting whether the wire will run through an engine compartment or a similarly hot environment, its sheathing, bundling, or conduit status, and the wires insulation rating (60C, 75C, 80C, 90C, 105C, 125C, 200C).

The voltage drop calculations are compared with the safe current carrying capacity (ampacity) of the wire to ensure that the suggested wire is suitable for the intended purpose.

For convenience, WireSizer includes a Materials List feature where all wire selections can be recorded.

The wire gauge calculation results comply with ABYC E11 specifications, which are standard requirements for boats and excellent guidelines for other applications. ABYC specifications meet or exceed NEC standards and correspond to ISO/FDIS.
